The lecture will focus on the da Vinci robot-assisted surgical system, which was introduced at the hospital center in 2011, allowing a number of major operations to be performed in a less invasive manner and with a greater level of precision.
Since then, hundreds of robotic surgeries have been performed at the hospital.
The seminar will allow the public to use the da Vinci robot simulator to understand how the system works and will include information on the uses of the robot in urology, gynecology and general surgery.
Urologists Mark Nogueira and Sheldon Axelrod will discuss the use of robotic surgery in urological procedures.
Dr. Hansraj Sheth will present the general surgical applications of the system, and Dr. Janusz Rudnicki will share his experience in gynecological robotic surgery.
A question-and-answer period will follow each presentation. A continental breakfast will be served between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required, but it is preferred.
